Keys Cafe and Bakery is teaming up March 16 with Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities for this year's "Soup for the Homeless Soul" fundraiser.

The restaurant will be providing 15 gallons of soup to bring awareness to homelessness and raise money for Union Gospel Mission, which supports people dealing with poverty, addiction and homelessness. The St. Paul Grill, Yarusso Bros. Italian Restaurant and Kane's Catering will also contribute food.

Meals served at the event are free, while 13 artisans and schools have donated pottery for sale to benefit the mission. River City Worship will provide music.

The restaurant has nine locations, including Woodbury, Hudson and St. Paul. The fundraiser is now in its seventh year.

Keys Cafe owner Barbara Hunn Miesen has cultivated an ongoing partnership with Union Gospel Mission. Along with the restaurant's participation in "Soup for the Homeless Soul," Miesen asks customers to donate to the Mission's annual Thanksgiving dinner. Over the past two years, patrons have raised nearly $25,000.

Throughout her time as owner of Keys, Miesen's personal interactions with people experiencing homelessness has impacted her and influenced the way she gives back to the community, she said in a press release.

About 500 people are expected to attend the benefit.
