The seventh annual BRIDGE Burger Battle, a competition to determine the best burger in town and a benefit supporting BRIDGE For Community Life, has come to a close. Local restaurants, Big Guys BBQ, Dick's Bar and Grill, Paddy Ryan's Irish Pub and Starr's Bar took on the task of preparing a creative, delicious burger that would win the hearts and stomachs of 250 burger connoisseurs in the community.
For $25, participants could purchase a Burger Battle Punch Card and bring it to each restaurant during regular lunch or dinner hours from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31 to receive a free Burger Battle featured burger. After participants enjoyed all four burgers, they visited the Burger Battle voting site ( hudson-hasit.com/burgerbattle) to choose their favorite.
The competition was close, but the votes have been counted and the winner is ... Big Guys BBQ Roadhouse with their Big Pig Burger! This burger certainly lived up to its name, with bacon, pulled pork, smokey slaw, cheddar cheese and Jack Daniel's sauce. Delicious!
Congratulations to Big Guy's for the second year in a row!
"BRIDGE is so grateful to the restaurants and participants who have supported BRIDGE through this fundraiser for seven years now," says BRIDGE Executive Director Peg Gagnon, "I want to encourage everyone to continue visiting these generous restaurants that each donated 250 burgers, supporting innovative programs and services for area youth and adults with disabilities and bringing awareness of nonprofit work to the local community. The burgers were all delicious! We can't thank the restaurants and participants enough."
The participating restaurants, Minuteman Press Pete Keskey, is.it.2B Marketing Craig Hofland, and Engravers Connection Bob Bosworth generously donated their goods and services so that 100 percent of the $5,375 raised from the Punch Card purchases went to BRIDGE For Community Life, supporting programs that allow youth and adults with disabilities in the St. Croix River Valley to attend year-round day service programs, find meaningful employment, participate in ongoing recreational activities, and socialize with friends.
