The Cannon Falls boys basketball season ended in the first round of the Section 1AA playoffs against Chatfield Tuesday night, losing 59-48.
Bombers Coach Josh Davisson said his squad was down by 22 points in the second half of play, but they didn't give up.
The Bombers narrowed the Gophers lead to four points, but it wasn't enough.
"They left everything on the court and definitely went down fighting," Davisson said.
Senior Marcus Banks led the team in scoring with 30 points, making six three-point shots in the matchup. Fellow Senior Cam Dicke nearly had a triple-double, grabbing 12 rebounds, scoring seven points and six blocked shots.
The Bombers forced 19 turnovers by the Gophers, but were unable to keep up on the efficient three-point and free throw shooting.
The Gophers went 8-15 from the three-point line and 15-19 from the free throw line.
The Bombers were the 10 seed in the Section 1AA playoffs. The Gophers were the seven seed.
The Bombers finished the season 8-11 on the season.
A season end recap story will be published in the March 25 edition of the Cannon Falls Beacon with quotes and reactions from Coach Josh Davisson.
