Cabin fever got you down? Switch up your routine and take an adult community education class in Red Wing.

Some Red Wing residents were wondering if there were any interesting adult community education classes they could take in April to try something new. The answer to that question isn’t just yes, it’s absolutely yes!

A few of the most exciting classes will be listed below, but check the April-June 2021 community education & recreation brochure to see all the classes being offered.

Memorial Park Sunset Hike 

Run by: A Red Wing park naturalist 

What: A moderate one hour hike at Memorial Park

Where: Mississippi Golf Links trailhead

When: April 19, 6-7 p.m. 

Cost: No Charge

 

Puppy Class 

Run by: Shelly Weinstein

What: Lay the foundation for successful training while your puppy socializes with other puppies. All puppies must be 8-15 weeks old and should have a regular buckle or martingale collar, head halter or harness with a regular 6 foot leash.

Where: Meet in the grassy area outside the Red Wing High School’s door 10.

When: Apr. 26-May 17, 6-7 p.m. or 7:15-8:15 p.m.

Cost: $59 for 4 classes

 

A “Cure” for Cabin Fever: Backyard Photography 

Run by: Jay Grammond, professional photographer

What: Learn to see and compose creatively as you use your own backyard or local park as your muse. Grammond will teach you what subjects to focus on and helpful resources that you can use to create your best images yet.

Where: Your computer

When: April 8, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Cost: $19

 

And You think You Know Grilled Cheese Cook Along

Run by: Chef Kerry Jerred 

What: April is National Grilled Cheese month! Join Jerred as you explore different grilled cheese options that aren’t your typical American cheese and white bread.

Where: Your computer

When: April 15, 6-7 p.m.

Cost: $29 

 

Mosaic Panel Garden Art 

Run by: Renee Reinardy 

What: Participants will create a weatherproof panel with beautiful stained glass, gems and mirrors. Design ideas such as flowers and words are provided, but you can also create your own design. Mosaic techniques, tips and tools will be provided.

Where: Red Wing High School’s courtyard cafe

When: April 17, 9-11:30 a.m.

Cost: $40 

 

Woodworking For All 

Run by: Randii Waddell, owner of SawRise Woodworks

What: Give scroll sawing a test while you customize your own sign with any state you choose as the design.

Where: SawRise Woodworks

When: April 11, 9-11:30 a.m.

Cost: $50 

 

Introducing...Laughter Wellness!

Run by: Terri Weeding 

What: Learn about the scientifically proven health benefits of laughter while participating in playful laughter exercises and breathing techniques.

Where: Your computer

When: April 13, 7-8 p.m.

Cost: $15

 

The Ancient Art of Hand Yoga 

Run by: Janice Novak

What: Explore an ancient Indian tradition while learning easy yoga hand positions.

Where: Your computer 

When: April 27, 6-7:30 p.m.

Cost: $29 

 

Registration for any class is required at least one week prior to the start date.
